Salon Assistant / Apprentice Hairdresser

Salary: Up to £28,000 per year depending on experience, hours and performance
Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, 5–8 hour shifts
Experience: Minimum 6 months salon experience preferred
Job Summary
HairNova London is looking for a confident, ambitious and style-focused Salon Assistant / Apprentice Hairdresser to join our growing team across our Angel and Finchley salons.
HairNova is a premium London salon group specialising in hair extensions, colour, blow-dries, luxury transformations and celebrity-inspired hair. Our salons are fast-paced, modern and social-media driven, with a strong focus on beautiful results, client experience and content-worthy transformations.
This role is perfect for someone who already has salon experience and wants to build a serious career in hairdressing. You will work closely with senior stylists, support high-value colour and extension appointments, look after clients, assist with styling, and learn how to deliver the premium HairNova experience.
We are looking for someone who is well-presented, reliable, hard-working and genuinely passionate about hair, beauty, fashion, influencers, celebrities and transformation work.
For the right person, this role can progress into a Junior Stylist position.

Main Responsibilities
Your duties will include
• Welcoming clients into the salon
• Preparing clients for appointments
• Gowning clients
• Washing hair confidently
• Applying and rinsing toners
• Supporting stylists during colour services
• Supporting hair extension appointments
• Assisting with blow-dries and styling
• Preparing colour bowls
• Keeping sections clean and ready for clients
• Sweeping floors and maintaining salon standards
• Making drinks for clients
• Checking and organising stock
• Taking before and after photos
• Helping create social media content
• Supporting the team during busy appointments
• Helping maintain a luxury client experience at all times

Experience Required
You should ideally have
• At least 6 months salon experience
• Confidence washing hair
• Some experience applying and rinsing toners
• Basic blow-drying experience
• Good communication skills
• A positive attitude towards learning
• A strong interest in hairdressing as a long-term career
You do not need to be fully qualified, but you must already be comfortable in a salon environment and willing to work hard.
