About the Role

Panda is a leading provider of sustainable waste transportation. We are seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our team at either our Leeds or Bradford depots. You will play a critical role in the circular economy by safely transporting materials across our network, ensuring our waste management operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Working Hours & Compensation

• Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (06:00 – 18:00) with rotational Saturdays.

• Contracted Hours: 50 hours per week (includes 1-hour unpaid break per shift).

• Base Pay: £14.90 per hour + £50 weekly compliance bonus.

• Enhanced Overtime (for hours over 45 per week):

  • Weekdays: 1.3x hourly rate

  • Saturdays: 1.5x hourly rate

  • Bank Holidays: 2x hourly rate

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Operation: Safely operate Class 1 HGV vehicles for the collection and delivery of waste materials.

• Logistics: Follow efficient routing to maximize productivity and minimize environmental impact.

• Compliance: Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report defects immediately; maintain accurate digital tachograph records and adhere to WTD (Working Time Directive) regulations.

• Digital Integration: Utilize digital systems to maintain accurate logs of all collections and deliveries.

• Customer Service: Act as a professional representative of the company at all collection and delivery points.

Essential Requirements

• Licensing: Valid UK HGV Class 1 licence and a current Driver CPC.

• Documentation: Valid Digital Tachograph card.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven Class 1 driving experience (waste management experience is preferred but not essential).

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle safety, maintenance, and load security.

• Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while staying connected to the transport team.
