Driver Compliance Manager – UK Fleet

About the Role

Panda is seeking a high-caliber Driver Compliance Manager to join our Fleet team. This is a critical operational role where you will take full ownership of driver compliance, fleet risk, and transport safety standards across our UK regions.

Working closely with the UK Fleet Manager, you will ensure our operations remain fully compliant with evolving legislation while proactively driving improvements in driver performance and safety culture. This role is ideal for a compliance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys using data to drive real-world operational impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure 100% adherence to DVSA regulations and Operator Licence requirements. Oversee tachograph analysis, Driver Hours, and Working Time Regulations, ensuring all infringements are addressed and audit readiness is maintained.

  • Safety & Risk Management: Act as the business lead for road risk; conduct vehicle gate checks, investigate incidents or complaints, and implement robust corrective actions.

  • Data-Driven Insight: Produce comprehensive monthly governance reports covering driver hours, vehicle incidents, and training assessments to identify trends and optimize performance.

  • Training & Engagement: Deliver impactful toolbox talks and safety briefings. Support driver training in alignment with the Driver Handbook and keep the team updated on legislative changes and best practices.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify operational risks and implement solutions that improve both efficiency and safety, fostering a culture of accountability across Fleet and Operations.

Requirements & Skills

Essential

  • Qualifications: CPC (National or International) in Road Haulage and a valid Category B Driving Licence.

  • Experience: Proven track record in transport compliance or fleet operations with a deep understanding of UK transport legislation.

  • Technical Knowledge: Solid grasp of Driver Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and the Working Time Directive.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Communication: A confident communicator capable of engaging drivers and senior stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • LGV Licence.

  • Experience with Earned Recognition accreditation.

  • Knowledge of dangerous goods or hazardous waste regulations.

  • IOSH Managing or Leading Safely certification.
